I would give zero stars if it was…
I would give zero stars if it was possible. Poor customer service from the Hounslow/Asda branch and then the customer service line afterwards. The staff member, Reena, gave me 2 options as they only had €100 euro denominations at the time. I went for the lower amount and she incorrectly charged me on my card for the higher one, not once confirming what she was charging me. She took my card and entered in the details behind the plastic screen.

Once she handed me the money when I objected to the amount and said I clearly asked for the lower amount, she shrugged it off and acted as if nothing could be done.

I then contacted the office later on that day for the complaints email, I got through to the same woman, Reena and she said why didn’t I ask for a refund at the time?! The question is why doesn’t she learn good customer service and offer it to an unhappy customer in the first place, after I clearly stated she got it wrong at the time. She needs to listen more attentively and offer an unhappy customer a refund at the time of the incident rather than afterwards when I want to make a complaint. Only when I mentioned complaint did she want to help.

She then refused to give me the complaints email address after being on the phone for over 20 minutes and asking her multiple times, they should have the complaints procedure/info with them at all times. This should be standard in a workplace.

I then contact the complaints/customer service line and got hung up on after being put on hold for ten mins. Shocking customer service. I’ve escalated the issue to go above their heads because it’s as if they just cover for one another and their inadequacies.

Stay away Be aware Scam artists
I ordered next day delivery and I never received anything I called and they said my order was cancelled /stopped because of an issue with something “internal”. I never received any email nothing and now I’m out £2000 this is insane worst service ever. Is this how your going to treat me? True scam artists. They beat around the bush just elongating stuff for nothing. Not an easy process if you want currency for traveling worst ever and I don’t know what to do. Frustrating, angry disappointed!!!

Rip-Off Pandemic Profiteers
I have been forced to register a serious complaint about Asda Money/Travelex and their foreign currency cards which has meant I have lost £100 over two cards for Euros and Dollars to 'inactivity' charges that I had zero communications about over the pandemic - when we were not allowed to travel.
To make things even worse (if they can be) they charged me these fees at around £2 a month even though they had shut down both cards in February so I couldn't use them anyway.
I would expect this kind of actions from a cowboy practitioner not a supposedly reputable company.
According to their representatives they are bona fide charges that are in terms and conditions that when I looked on my account are not there.
These charges have been imposed on both cards for the best part of two years, without as single alert or communication to warn of this which is just unforgiveable.
Quite how this could be presented as justified, and it is, when everyone in the world was in lockdown beggars belief. How anyone could attempt to make money from Covid pandemic is utterly deplorable.
It was only when I called to query the charges on my euros card, that I found out the same had happened on my dollars card to the point that they could not take any more money out.
During the call it emerged to further utter disbelief that both cards were closed on February 2022. That, again, was the first I had heard of it.
It appears this is because single currency cards have been taken out of circulation and being replaced by multi-currency cards. She said that meant that I cannot use them. So I can do nothing about any of the money that is currently on both accounts.
This is quite frankly the most unethical, deplorable and unprofessional situation I have ever encountered.
It has also left me in an impossible position a matter of days before I was due to go abroad for the first time since lockdown at the weekend.
I really do not have the time and energy to be dealing with such matters on the eve of going on holiday and have had to make urgent steps to find another currency provider because of the shutdown of my cards, without my knowledge.

Dormancy fee and conversion fees
I haven’t used my travelex card, which had been uploaded with €900, since the beginning of lockdown and have just discovered to my disgust that I have been charged over €2 pm dormancy charge.
In addition I tried to use the card yesterday (June 18) at manchester airport prior to flying to Ireland. The ATM offered euro or sterling. I selected €200 cash.
To my horror I was charged a sterling to euro conversion rate plus a conversion fee. This is an account in euros!!!
I intend to cash in my balance and never useTravelex again, but no doubt they will charge me a conversion rate and fee from euro to sterling. You can’t win with this company.

TRAVELEX SOLD ME OUT OF TIME CURRENCY - BEWARE!
Earlier this mont, on 2 June at 08.40, I bought £326.65 of Norwegian Kroner from TRAVELEX vendor Purewa1R at Departures of Terminal 2 at Heathrow Airport. Imagine my surprise in Norway at being told that the Norwegian currency sold to me by TRAVELEX was not legal tender at any retail outlet in the country and indeed the notes had been withdrawn as legal teder by the Bank of Norway approximately 3 to 4 years previously. I would have had to exchange the currencyTRAVELEX sold me at the Bank of Norway, Oslo. In the event I could not as the Bank was closed after I had been informed. In the next few days I shall be asking TRAVELEX to refund what they sold me. I shall then write another review. Had I been relying exclusively on the money purchased in good faith from TRAVELEX my holiday would have been ruined. I will be reluctant to ever trust TRAVELEX again.

Robbery at Heathrow Airport
I bought £400 woth of US Dollars and £200 worth of Mexican Pesos from Travelex at Heathrow Airport, buy back scheme was not explained however receipt states it was expained but the two young ladies on the counter on the 8th Jan did not have a clue what they were doing.

Pesos were not used so exchanged at Heathrow Airport on arrival the Travelex Agent asked for the card the Pesos were bought with however the refund was not paid to the card and once I arrived home the receipt shows £109 refund paid in cash, which was not paid. These people should be vetted properly as they are robbing the customers. I will never use Travelex again.

Robin Hood lives on in - Daylight Robbers
Robin Hood lives on at Edin Airport - Except takes from the 'poor' and gives to the rich. Travelex are absolute rip off merchants. Bought US $ 120 from them at Edinburgh airport at a price of £123.33. Exchanged the money back on return and received £86.75.

Did not need the cash - was only a back up and knew the exchange rate was a rip off - but a transaction loss of £36.58 is daylight robbery. AVOID AT ALL COSTS - GET CASH AT M&S or EQUAL before you go to airport 37% transaction fee in a 2 week period is as bad as loan sharks.
